Today is #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back that rallies our donors, alumni, staff, faculty, students, and volunteers around a common cause.
Our common cause is Vermont State University, and this year, we ask you to make a gift to the fund of your choice in honor of the people who made your experience special. Your gift can be dedicated to any community member – past or present – and could be in honor of your favorite professor, coach, advisor, or friend.
Whether you attended classes at Castleton, Johnson, Lyndon, Randolph, Williston, online, or a distance learning site, we hope you met someone there who was instrumental in changing your life. It is 6pm on December 10th, the final numbers are just in, and I frankly cannot wait until tomorrow to share them with all of you.
Our goal this year was just 350 donors, which we were unable to make last year for many reasons. This year, our goal was the same: 350 donors.
We shattered that goal by 120% with a total of 430 donors on Giving Tuesday.
Among them, an incredible 111 VTSU faculty and staff placed a bet on the future of our nation's newest state university system.
Another 193 alumni raised their hands in support of Vermont State University from Maine to Hawaii.
Altogether, you gave $43,204 to VTSU's operations, teams, clubs, scholarships, and other programs.
Thank you for making this Giving Tuesday, 2024, an unprecedented success.
Across our several campuses and departments, we are all working hard to make good on your confidence by delivering the high-quality, affordable public education our students deserve. And it is clear to me that, like our incredible students, our brave little university has a bright future ahead of it.
I am grateful to be a part of this milestone and eager to share many more with you in the coming years. But for now, please accept my sincerest thanks, on behalf of every member of the VTSU community for your generosity.

Overnight, VTSU has coasted to 110% of our 350 donor participation goal for this year's #GivingTuesday through the support of alumni, family, faculty, staff, students and friends from Maine to Hawaii, who made this our most successful #GivingTuesday in recent years. This is the same 350 goal we fell 10% short of just one year ago. And, as usual, the campaign will remain open until 4pm today for those who were unable to give yesterday but still wish to be counted.
